Be Yourself?
Many times I wonder
About life, mine especially
How best to live.
Many stories told
Of betrayal and shattered trust
Yet I assure that I'll be better
Than the ones before
But deep down I ask
Am I any better?
Many Sages and Rabbis
Tell of the knowledge of oneself
As the greatest form of enlightenment
Many advice
That to be successful
I need to be myself.
I am, naturally
Proud and Hateful
Selfish and Lustful
Greedy and Lascivious
Immoral and unforgiving
Paedophile and Rapist
Sweet talker and Truce breaker
Sinful yet Sanctimonious
But there's One
Right and just
Meek and gentle
Selfless and loving
Moderate and contented
Comforting and assuring
Trustworthy and reliable
Sinless and forgiving
So tell me, my friend
What you advice
I be like Him
Or rather
I be myself?
